That’s the invitation behind this one-of-a-kind devotional written by the late Kris Wilson — a seasoned horseman, working cowboy, and man of unshakable faith.
Born out of trial, refined through pain, and delivered with grit and grace, I'll Drop You Off: A 40-Day Devotional for Cowboys isn’t your typical Christian book. It doesn’t start with an apology — because it wasn’t written on a whim. It was written out of obedience, as a calling from the Lord.
Through every ride, at every turn, and in every hard-earned moment of respect, God was shaping Kris' life for a greater purpose—using his 38 years of experience among cowboys from all walks of life to point to the plan God had all along. And in this devotional, he speaks right to the soul of the working cowboy — the early risers, the weekend warriors, the cowgirls, and the families that love them — all who live by faith, dust, and good horses.
In 40 short, powerful daily readings, Kris calls readers to follow Jesus with the same loyalty, grit, and trust they give the trail boss. Whether you're riding fences or sitting at home, this book reminds us all: there’s no better lead man than Christ.

Kris Wilson

Kris Wilson was the Manager of the New Mexico Divisions of Silver Spur Ranches, which includes the historic Bell and TO Ranches. Kris lived with his wife, Cara and children, Grady and Josey on the Bell Ranch from 2010-2016. He was born in Eastern New Mexico but raised in the Cross-Timbers area of North Texas. Kris earned an associate's degree from South Plains College, a bachelor's and master's degree from Texas A&M University and doctorate from Texas lech University. Upon graduation, Kris accepted an assistant professor position at lexas lech, but after three years got to fulfill his lifelong dream of working on a large historic ranch when he accepted a position at Matador Cattle Company.
After an incredible year at Matador, Kris and Cara moved to the Bell to manage the division for Silver Spur. In March of 2013, his life was turned on end when Kris learned that he had kidney cancer. Then in 2014 he learned that his cancer had metastasized and advanced to Stage IV. Although shaken,
Kris decided not to give up hope and instead turned to Jesus Christ to help him endure the chemotherapy, surgeries and radiation that would be required to fight the insidious disease Kris started a ministry on Facebook called Western Faithbook, sharing weekly post on how the Lord was working and leading him through this trial To build on this ministry, Kris followed God's calling to write this book to offer encouragement and Biblical instruction to other cowboys

These works were our calling when we were together here on earth. His calling is still my calling. About a year ago, I had a friend say this to me, “You are still doing Kingdom work, he is just in the Kingdom.” I will carry that with me the rest of my days. God is continually working.
Grady, Josey (our children) and I have walked through grief together. Grief is hard, it hurts, it is raw. It is something you learn to live with. We have become so close, the three of us. We have an INCREDIBLE family that has stood by our side. God has showed us His goodness and provision in so many ways. We are grateful Kris was ours and are grateful for the HOPE of eternal life in Christ Jesus. Eternal life where we are healed and made whole, complete.
The story is BIG. I love the tell the details, it is how I am. I remember the details.
I want to share the story, our story, our love story. It was and is beautiful. God used us and continues to us for his Kingdom.
